Irratic Power Window Problems
First off I have to say that I have replaced both sets of power window guide clips on my wifes 2000 Beetle after the passenger side window broke and I had to replace the entire cable assembly. After that assembly was replaced, the passenger side window behaved very strange. It would pulse up and down on its own. The passenger side switch would not operate the window at all most of the time, even after it was replaced with a new switch. The passenger side window has to be operated by the dual switch from the drivers side. I decided to replace the motor on the drivers side, because some have had success with that because the module that operates the windows is attached to the power window motor on the drivers side. I assumed the module was bad on my original motor and replaced it with a used motor off of a 2001 Beetle. I just finished the replacement, and have the same results. The passenger side window is operational only from the drivers side most of the time, and the passenger side switch usually does not do a thing.
Does anyone have any idea what the heck may be going on? I have searched the forum and the internet, and the only similar fix anyone has had was to replace the drivers side window motor with the attached module. Unless I got a bad replacement module with the replacement motor, who knows. I don't know of anyway to check or pin out the module to make sure it is good. I attahed a few pics showing both motors, and there is a slight difference between the 2000 and 2001 motors, although they bolt up and plug in the same. The 2001 motor is the all black one, the 2000 original is white and black. Any ides or suggestions would be welcome before I pull out the rest of my hair!
