Default Exhaust joint leaking

Whats the best way to fix the joint between the catalytic pipe and the mid muffler where VW clamps them? Mine is leaking after 8 years of service and starting to rumble the car. What are the diameters? Two clamps and a piece of pipe through the two?

Depending how big your leak is some paste/sealent may be enough.

Wurth Exhaust Paste Wurth makes GOOD STUFF.

You shouldn't have to replace the 2 clamps or anything, just tighten them again.

Do the job right and it'll probably stay good:
disconnect the joint, clean the parts, apply paste, apply clamp. Follow curing instructions.

Not sure how well that'll go over in your current environment, but it's a cost-efficient option.

Sounds good but the pipes are well corroded. The clamp is basically part of the pipe that its clamping, its going to be time consuming to seperate it. I am looking more to cut that section out then replace whats missing. VW uses one clamp to join them, it's leaking pressure and gases right in the center of the clamped area.

Gotcha corrosion is no good. Another option than DIY is to go by a muffler shop and see who will do some light welding pretty cheap.

I had my Resonator removed, and all my seams welded up for $50. It was a bargain, I worked with him to have the car there on a slow-day. But it was worth the effort to me. He even used a piece of his own piping.
