Dear Vw, you make lots of great cars!! But, you should really stop putting plastic in important places. Thankfully, you were kind enough to change out the plastic window regulators for metal ones. You were also kind enough to sell waterpumps with metal impellers!

So, could you also be so kind as to come out with a METAL replacement for th Oil Dipstick and Dipstick shaft? The plastics ones in there now get brittle with the heat and snap off like nothing. I would GLADLY pay extra $$ for a replacement like I will when I change to a waterpump with METAL impellar. Same goes for the plastic skid plate too!

PS: Your plastic on the interior isn't that much better either
Thanks a lot Vw!

I'm sure the bigwigs at Volkswagen with all the power are reading this at this very moment! They will send out an urgent memo to all factories, and have them pull all of the plastic things, lock them in a closet, order up new, sturdy metal ones, *and* recall and fix every VW ever built with the offending plastic made parts! After all, we, the VW customers, have made Volkswagen the automotive powerhouse that they are today. They most certainly will take good care of us.

One can dream, right?

Hey its possible! Toyota just recalled almost 7.5million vehicles this week for faulty gas pedals that could get stuck down in the WOT position. Meanwhile, vw will just be changing the plastic to metal to save the owners some $$$ from buying new plastic ones over and over again.

Which one sounds more serious? Cars that that are stuck at Full Throttle or replacing 3 or 4 plastic parts?

VW wasn't actually so kind to make the metal impeller pumps. The dealer won't put those in AFAIK because they are technically aftermarket.

Its been a problem with VW for years to use plastic for important things. Its just something that you learn to live with and replace things as needed with better quality parts. I know there was someone on here who made their own dipstick tube out of metal. You'll also learn to form your own four letter words when you find new, important things they make out of plastic because you break them
