Question Looking into purchase

I'm looking into getting a new beetle, and have found one in particular. It's listed as an '03, but when I called about it he said it was an '04 and said he doesn't have too much knowledge on beetles but he said it was a limited and that was about it. I was wondering if anyone could tell from the pics what trim it is or possibly even the year.

That is a Blue Lagoon Color Concept beetle!!! Jealous! They have two-toned color matched seats along with the color matched wheels. I think most were '03, but there were some '04's? Not sure about that. I think they were all 1.8Ts too.

I think I found it here: About the VW Beetle Special Editions | New Beetle Satellite Blue. I'm a little disappointed as I was looking for one with the 1.8t. It's also an automatic /sigh. Not a big deal but would prefer manual. I found another that is a 2000 GLX 118k (mind you I don't have much money to work with) 5-speed Black exterior, black interior. Any thoughts on it? What advantages do they offer over each other?

Go with the manual...and budget for a complete timing belt job (including water pump, tensioner and roller) immediately after purchase.

VW automatics are bad news...and the mere fact that you prefer a 5 speed you will never be happy with an auto. Especially a craptastic failomatic VW auto.

Ballpark, what do you think I would be looking at to have that done? Something I could do myself?

Timing belt change? Prices vary by region, but a decent ballpark is $800 or so. It is definitely something you can do yourself if you can read/follow instructions and can turn wrenches. Make sure you get a complete timing belt kit
with a metal impeller water pump and new stretch bolts for the motor mount. If you take it somewhere, make sure these items are replaced. If you do it yourself, a Bentley manual would also be an excellent investment if you are going to be doing your own work.

Actually it's the limited edition Satellite Blue version, 2.0, cloth interior, automatic only.

BUT, it's good you mention the Blue Lagoon Color Concept, because that comes in a 1.8T 5 speed like they want

Here is a 2003 Blue Lagoon, with only 30,000 miles on it!

Now if OtakuAnonymous wants the wheels off the Satellite blue version, he can order a set off from one of the wrecking yards online that have some of the wrecked cars and then he'd (she?) have that "look"

Start thinking "Road Trip"

The seats are truly comfortable and they are very roomy, so an extended road trip is easy

The day I bought mine, I drove 368 miles one way to get it then turned around and drove it home. So, I nailed over 700 miles in one day. But I got my Sting! He only had 21,000 miles on him when I got him in 2007. (( he was made in 2002))

Found an 03 turbo that's only about 200 miles away from me, has 75k on it and going for 6g. I do like the look of the wheels alot.

EDIT- I thought the Turbo S came standard with a spoiler? The one I found does not have one.

The Turbo S does have a spoiler. It's above the rear window and deploys when you go above 43 mph...it looks like part of the window unless you know it's there.
