Default Voltage Regulator bad??

Hey there,
havn't been on the boards in quite some time.

Since i got my bug in december 07 , i have had it into the dealership wayyyy to many times for burned out bulbs.

both went out last month at the same time..BACK to the dealership.i told them on thephone, and in writing that something more then just 'bulbs burning out' was wrong with my car.

this is NOT normal.

i get it back..bulbs changed out..'oh it was just burned out bulbs' the response i get every time i take it in for bulbs.

so frusterated..i leave. not 10 days later my right bulb is out again. oh i was HOPPING mad.. good thing was the dealership was closed for the weekend.s o i had time to cool down and figure out what i was gonna do. Not before contacting VW canada via email and explaining the situatin.

i felt i wasnt being listend to...as this had hapepnd 9 or 10 times and everytime i go in 'just burned otu bulbs'

so aside from contacting them, i posted my problem on two different forums

one being a forum for parents and caregivers in vicotira (therse about 200 members there from my town) and another being the VW club of victoria.

explaind to both what was going on and asked for advice.

first response on the vw club.. sell my car and be done with it, as they bulid nb's crap. yeah thats not waht i wanted AT ALL. im months away from being paid off and i LLOVEEEE my car.

the other forum told me to take my car up island 2 hours to the other dealership they do better service up there.

calling them, i explaind the problem..they said yes not normal bring it in we'll have an electrician dig into it, if first tests pass we'll look even futher. GREAT . so i take the day off..drive 2 hours up island..
they give me a loaner car, i return to find out that the problem was the light bulb wasnt burned out but unplugged this time. so bcause they found that out off the bat, they did not investigate the reocurring problem at all.

so back down island i go, and i now have a response from vw canada, saying they are fwding my complaint to the victoria dealership.

some one else on the VW club fourm came on saying 'this is what your problem is'
Your voltage regulator is bad.
then proceeded to tell me exzactly what wa happening and why.

the next day victoria dealership calls
'yes we looked into your file, and you are right this is not normal'

FINALLY!!!!!!!!! 'we think Your voltage regulator is bad. '........gee really?

so the apointment is for thursday, we'll see what happens.

has anyone heard of this in New beetles? is it rare?

all i can say is that guy who sat with me for over half an hour argueing and argueing with me when i bought my car that i needed exstended warentey... (i didnt want it) i owe him a box of chocolates !!
