Default 2004 trunk door hydraulic?

My trunk door doesn't want to stay open any more and I don't know if only the dealer can fix this. I've been able to replace light bulbs but this seems massive. Any suggestions?

This is not a bad DIY project, no need to take it to the dealership.

You just need to purchase a pair of gas struts, and replace them. There's no parts in the way that have to be removed first. You can get replacement gas struts from Napa, o'reily's ... most auto-parts stores. Or from your dealership's parts desk. (I'd recommend Napa.)

And I could be wrong, but I bet a straight slot screwdriver for prying, and a set of pliers for squishing the clipping thing on, ought to be the only tools needed.

Just a guess though for now.
