Default Radio Reset Code?????

Can someone please tell me the radio reset code for my 2001 VW New Beetle GLS 2.0, I need to disconnect the negative to upgrade my Haltech ECU and add a new ground kit, but i don't want to take to VW to have them charge me $400 to fix the radio reset code

It is usually on a card with the owner's manual or on a sticker by the spare tire.

It is also possible that it will reset itself if it is the original radio that came with your car.

Send a private message to user kaiser explaining the situation together with your cars VIN an the radio code on your radio. If you're nice he might give you your code for free.

Soon we have to start some sort of donation system for his efforts though

after replacing the battery the radio reset and the code in the owner's manual didn't work. i took it to the dealer and they were able to get me the code - at no charge. **NOTE** for the dealer to find the code, the radio needed to be at the point to enter the code (it locks after a couple of times entering the wrong code). To get the radio to reset and accept a code, the car has to be running for 1 hour.

If the whole idea of a code is so it's useless to anyone whole steals it, lol...why would you think they'd print the code on the back of the unit? That makes no sense at all.

That code printed on the back of the headunit I think is removable and is suppose to be placed inside the owners manual, I have a spot in my manual that says place code here and has a spot where you would put a sticker of some sort. So I am guessing that is what that is, the sticker just hasn't been removed yet.
