Default headlights not staying in

every once in a while one of my headlights will slide forward out of the hole about an inch it hasnt happened to both at the same time i have taken both out and put them back on and they seen fine and hen a couple of days later they move forward

has this happened to anyone

There is suppose to be a do hickey that slides up,(i believe) and this is suppose to lock them in place. There are some threads here on the org that explain how to do it's done. Good luck!

Thats on the 99-05s.... but i dont know if the 98's worked the same way.

They're just now "locked" in place. If the 98s have a lever, it just needs to be pushed all the way down to secure it. If the 98s are supposed to have this lever and you don't have one, then i'd take it to the dealership and pick one up for less than $20. Its a commonly broken part on the beetle.
