Question Help With Rattling Rear Hatch

Hello all,

I'm posting this for my father who has a '00 New Beetle. His rear hatch on the car rattles quite a bit and he'd like to fix it.

I've read and printed out the article in the Tech How To's section of this site and it did not seem to make any sense to us when we went to apply it. We did not see any adjustment screws that were mentioned in the article and were unable to make any adjustments.

Can anybody possibly give some more tips on how to go about adjusting this rattling rear hatch? How about some info on where the adjustment screws are? Do we have to pull any covers off to see or access them that was not mentioned in the writeup?

Any info would be appreciated!
Regards,
Tom C.

Rubber bump stops halfway down on either side of the hatch. loosen screw, pull up rubber piece to adjust, re-tighten screw. You may have to give it a couple tries

We had a bad rattle from the hatch that turned out to be a loose bracket for the spoiler motor.
