I'm having an issue with my reverse gear on an automatic transmission, when the car is placed in reverse it take like 1 minute before it engauges, if i rev the car a few times it engages with a jerk. Please help me as it was running so great recently.
Thank you |

Unfortunate we don't have any VW specialist on island therefore it hasn't had a proper service since new, i'll have to take it on myself to bring it up to par.
with regards to if it only occurs when cold, no it happens when ever i engage the reverse gear. Any info to begin that process will be greatly appreciated, i love the car and am more than ready for the challenge, hopefully i'll get there before a serious problem arises from having not been done a proper service before. |

There is no dipstick for the transmission, if I remember correctly.
Sounds like it could use a fluid change though. You will need a VAG-COM to do so. Check out Ross-Tech: Home

I have changed the trans oil, by opening the trans and replacing the fuel to top up as there is no dipstick i did lil reading and ran the vehicle for 5 min then remove the tran plug add oil through inlet on the right front side of engine, just behind the protection plate. providing the surface is level the excess oil will drain, when the draining stops plug hole the level is then correct. When i bought the vehicle the trans cooler cracked, letting in water from the radiator the system therefore had to be flushed, which i did, 1 week later i did a flush again until the oil was free of emulsion. it has been running well for about 3 months until about 2 weeks ago. i have an idea there's a hose under the hood behind the brake fuel reservoir, probably thats disconnected, i'll check in the morning.
