Vag-Com test: Catalytic Converter

1. Read and clear DTCs using scanner.

2. Enter basic setting mode 04 and select display group 046.

3. Increase engine speed to 2800-3200 RPM and maintain continuously.

4. The reading in display field 4 should change from 'test off' to 'test on'. The reading in display field 2 should read at least 352 degrees C.

5. The diagnostic test should last about 100 seconds. When it completes, display field 4 changes to 'Cat B1 OK'. If the test does not complete within 150 seconds, abort the test and try again. Be sure to check for exhaust or any other unmetered air leaks.

6. If a 'Cat Fail' message is displayed in field 4, the catalyst needs to be replaced.
