Unhappy Help!!!!!

Hello all. Iam having problems with my beetle. It started with my battery draining. I have an annoying ding when I insert the key in the ign. this lasts several minutes. I pulled a fuse and the draining has stopped, but the fuse was not blown. Also my heater/ AC blower does not work, but I am still getting heat from the vents. Is there a short somewhere? Please help I'm desparate.

What fuse was pulled?

Does the interior light turn on/off with the driver's door being open/closed?

So the HVAC blower motor isn't working, but you still get heat... explain more. You get heat as in when driving at highway speeds warm air is sort of coming out (normal if recirc is turned off).

I suspect you have several different things that are not related, but I can't be sure since I'm standing here at the other end of the intertubes.

What fuse did you pull? Is it a constant ding or does it do more like a "ding ding ding"? Does it go away when you turn the key or does it not matter? How much heat are you getting? There is still air that will come through even if the fan is off. Do your cooling fans run (if you turn on your AC, do the fans at the front of the car turn on?)

It is a 10 amp in the mini fuse box that also controls power windows and much more. it is a constant ding, ding, ding. plus when I turn the lights on it turns to a solid ding for a couple of minutes then shuts off. If I leave this fuse in it drains the battery.

I would look into a dead microswitch. If the door lights aren't going out, that means the car thinks your door is open, which results in the dinging and the dead battery. Probably why the fuse fixed it. These fail a lot. Could be something else, but its going to be related to your door sensor in some fashion.

What about your fans? Have you checked into those? That will be a different issue with your lack of air flowing through.

Sounds like a microswitch. :\

The heat coming in is probably from the engine. It's still an open system, motor or not.

Take apart the driver's door and inspect the wiring very carefully. It sounds like the car is getting an "open door" signal all the time.

There is a micro switch that is part of the door latch itself that lets the car know open or closed door. Normally when they fail, they do not send an open door signal.... but your car sounds like it is sending an always open door signal, so that is odd. Before you go tossing in a door latch, just make sure there is no issue with the wiring (short to ground).

Any updates on the heater issue?
