Question Gasoline smell

2006 2.5 with less than 200 miles. Fuel quantity sending unit was replaced at around 110 miles, now I can smell gas outside the car when parked. Question is...where is the sending unit located on the tank? Oh, and the emission light is on steady. The car goes into the dealer Monday, but I am curious as to the location of the sender. Have not yet bought a service manual. Anyone able to help??? Thanks, Ron

The sending unit/fuel pump is located on top of the tank, underneath the passenger side of the rear seat bottom. Fold up the seat and you'll see a cutout in the carpet. Under the carpet is the access panel for the sender unit. You didn't ask, but the fuel filter is located just in front of the passenger rear tire, underneath the running board. Maybe they didn't reattach the hose securely. Also, make sure that you click the gas cap at least six times after you fill up and never leave the engine running while fueling.

Good luck on Monday!!!
