I had that problem as well...When I changed to a leather boot, it actually made it a bit too big to fit, so it kept slipping out.
I even used some velcro for a while jammed down in there. However, one of these sealed the deal and looks good to boot :

It's a Richbrook chrome gear shift surround...I looked all over for one and found this one from a UK web site:
Richbrook Gear Shift Surround - VW New Beetle: Interior - Gear Shift Surrounds - KPA0563 - KPautomotive - Road, race and rally parts. It's all metal, not plastic (aluminum I think), and covered in chrome. |
