Default Shifter leather boot will not stay in place?

This has bugged me for a year since getting the car and I am just now irritated enough to ask.

Am I missing some trim piece or whatever that holds the boot down to the console?

I push the rectangle square bottom of the leather boot down into the center console and it may stay for a bit but shifting eventually makes it pop back up. I am almost to the point of super gluing the dang thing down.

It appears there is nothing to hold it in. I just push down and its snug in there until I make a shift into 6th gear that pulls on the opposite side of the boot popping it back up.

GGGgrrrrrrrr

I had that problem as well...When I changed to a leather boot, it actually made it a bit too big to fit, so it kept slipping out.
I even used some velcro for a while jammed down in there. However, one of these sealed the deal and looks good to boot :

It's a Richbrook chrome gear shift surround...I looked all over for one and found this one from a UK web site:

Richbrook Gear Shift Surround - VW New Beetle: Interior - Gear Shift Surrounds - KPA0563 - KPautomotive - Road, race and rally parts.

It's all metal, not plastic (aluminum I think), and covered in chrome.
