Unhappy 2000 GLS Airbag Light On

I went to the store last night and bought just a few things so like every other day released the drivers side seat and put the bags in the back. When I started the car the air bag light came on and stayed on. The airbags are fine have not deployed no accidents nothing, just out of no where this happened. I am reading a lot of horror stories, and do not want to seem like an idiot when I take it in. Any suggestions....what to look for? What to try?

Off the top of my head, you need to replace the seat belt harness.

Vag com lite. Will read and reset the code, just need to buy a cable about 15.00 on amazon. I just replaced the seat belt buckles in my wife's 2002 NB, driver was about 225.00 passenger 85.00 if I recall. Took about 30 min each,. I'm not at home or I would link to my thread here, but if you search my name you will find it.
