Default N80 Valve?

Anyone know where I can find one of these, or about how much it would cost me? After all the reading/checking/etc I've been doing the past month for my starting issue after getting gas (as well as the P0441 code and intermittent thumping noise from rear of the car when stopped), I'm just going to go ahead and replace it and see if that solves my issue. I hate to go through the dealership to get this part if I can find it elsewhere... I guess what I'm asking is, is this something I could find at any basic parts store or is it VW specific?

You can get the N80 Valve from a 3rd party.
However, i have read a lot of threads about 3rd party N80 valves, that just break sooner rather than later. The OP's get cheesed off and all say to buy the original VW part to begin with.

Just like cheap ebay sensors

Bosch Purge Valve - Low Price Guarantee

Try here. They only sell Bosch parts. There are many people who carry this part. Just make sure it's a Bosch.

Also, does anyone know if this is located in the same spot on all NBs? I've seen pics for earlier models and it's near the coolant reservoir?

On the Beetles, they on the right side of the engine bay, close to the coolant jug.

When buying parts for your make sure you avoid the following:

Chinese
Replacement
Auto
Parts

C.R.A.P. has a wonderful track record of creating more problems rather than solving them.
