Default interior light question

this is a '00 tdi, OK you know how when you turn the car off and take out the key all the interior lights turn on, or when you open the door. is there a way to get them all to turn on without doing either of those two things? i've tried everything and searched and can not come up with anything.

Use the switches.

Under the rear view mirror is a switch.

Under the 2 side lights are switches.

Left stay off
Middle stay on
Right only work when key taken out or door opens

Although if you have one of these you have to slide it left or right

I'm sure led's can be swapped for the interior lights. look at LED Lights, Bulbs & Accessories - SUPER BRIGHT LEDS they have tons of stuff there

blugg: well what you described is exactly what i do not want to do. I'm used to being able to flip a single switch in the car and have them all turn on. Thanks for going over it to verify how they are working, i just wish i didn't have to hit 3 switches or open the door to turn on all the lights.

My interior lights only come on when the passenger door opens. When I open the drivers side none of the lights come on. Anyone know what I should check? Probably the door switch or something like that.?
