I'm not sure if this is where this goes.
Please move this topic if it's on the wrong board.

Would this be powerful enough to start a 2000 VW NB 2.0?
Even with a dead battery on the car?

yep that will work, i got a black and decker one from walmart and it's about 80.00 and works well

Yup. Thats what ya need for dead batteries.
Trust me. I used to tow cars for a living. And a jumper box was one of the tools that got the most use.

WOW, that is almost OVERKILL There is a Stanley unit at Sam's Club that only costs around $49.xx bucks and probably will do the same as this one. Of course it only has 450 amps which should be plenty of power to start a beetle.

I was thinkin the same thing. At that price just buy a new battery and be done with it.
