Default DC Plug

Leaving a GPS but turned off, plugged into the DC Plug power will this drain battery?

Thanks.

For long enough, yes. The plugs are still powered with the car off.

They stayed on in my '99 and they stay on in my '03 GTI as well.

Is there a way to power off the DC? When ignition turned off?

Default Voltage draw

The voltage draw from a portable sat nav is minimal especially when turned off as it will only take what it needs to reach full charge.

It would take weeks to drain the battery . If the car is used daily there will be no problem to the car, on saying this the sat nav should be unplugged and let go flat from time to time to condition the battery. By leaving the sat nav in you risk more damage to the sat nav battery rather than the car.

Also depends on the age of the battery though. That's how I ended up finally killing my battery. Left the GPS charger in overnight.

I personally wouldn't leave it plugged in all the time. But I also put the GPS away whenever its not being used. Rather not risk the car being broken in to.
