Default Need help with TS identification

I'm checking out this 2003 TS and I'm a bit confused with its features. Seems to have 2003.5 headrests, earlier mirrors, no spoiler, but the rest looks to be TS bumpers, gauge cluster, interior, six speed, wheels, bumpers etc. I'm very interested in the vehicle for the mileage and price, but need some more experienced opinions.

It's an early 03. The headrests (solids) were a mid 02 change. The mirror blinkers were a mid 03 change, my 03 had side markers, like that one you are looking at. You are smart, the hatch does not have a spoiler. Maybe it was replaced? Get a vehicle history report.

That is a Turbo S .

Other than the color, it is identical to my "early" 03.

GO GET IT!

Thanks for the info. The vehicle history report shows it as a turbo s, one owner, no accidents, arrived to dealer 9/18/02. I'm cool with it not having the spoiler, just do not want to get hosed.

Still. The rear hatch with no spoiler seems very odd to me. If it was me, I'd investigate.

I chatted with someone there, and they will investigate and get back to me. Good luck! It looks like a great car!

Beautiful car but it's the first TS I've ever seen with no spoiler. I've heard a few folks complain about the sound the spoiler makes. Looks like the first owner must have removed it and replaced it with 2.0L rear glass. To each his own. I rather enjoy hearing it pop open when I head to work every morning. Good luck on your search for a TS. They are so much fun.

I'll bet that the rear windshield got cracked or busted up and instead of replacing it with one with the rear spoiler they more than likely just replaced it with the cheaper regular windshield.

One way to see if it had one installed is to check the manual switch hidden way low on the dash. If it has that switch than more than likely it used to have a spoiler.

1.8T and 2.0L/TDI/2.5 hatches are entirely different. The trim panel around the window is different as well, as the non-spoiler has a larger opening for the glass, whereas the spoiler hatch has a smaller opening to accommodate the spoiler mechanicals.

My Turbo S has solid headrests, side markers, and the spoiler. So I take it mine is an early 03 as well.

Word.
