Angry Cold weather and car alarm issue!

This morning, I started my 2003 NB with a 1.8T, and the car alarm goes off. And when I dropped my niece off at school, when she opened the door, guess what - the alarm goes off. Up until now, this have never happened. I am beginning to wonder if the cold weather might be the cause. I only have one key (a key fob which the remote part does not work). Any answers would surely be appreciated. Thank you.

Need to add one more thing - the rear hatch. This evening, when I opened it (via the hatch release button located on the driver's side door), guess what - BEEP, BEEP, BEEP!!! This cold weather is having some effect on my car, and this is really starting to upset me. If anyone has a suggestion on how to fix this (outside of using a sledgehammer), please feel free to post here. Thanks!

Scan the Comfort Control Module and see what the last 4 alarm trigger were. Left door? Right door? Ignition switch? Hood/radio? Rear hatch? Until you know what is setting the alarm off, you are doing some wild guessing.

If you don't have VCDS by Ross Tech, then I'd suggest you purchase a kit or offer beer to someone who does have a kit.
