Default Okay, so I never denied being a moron

I'm sorry to keep having to come to you guys lately for desperate help, but, we had a major snow storm today. I had to shovel out my driveway and I had to move my car a little bit because I had parked too close to my dads truck. When I went to move my car, I left the door open since I was only moving a little bit, and I couldn't see too well unless the door was open. The door went flying open when I moved, and got stuck on a bush, and then my car started to slide and wouldn't stop and my door almost ripped off. At first it wouldn't shut at all, now its shutting, but barely. When I sit in my car, I can see a decent amount of the great outdoors.
Does anyone have any idea of how much this will cost to fix?

Is there any damage to the door itself or did you just bend the hinge? You can probably score a new pair of hinges (upper and lower) for under $100

Wrong side I know: DOOR HINGES VW BEETLE 98-05 PASSENGER SIDE | eBay

You could have also bent the door sheet metal where the hinge attaches and then you'd need a new door.

I can go outside and take pictures in a few. As far as I can tell(it happened in the dark and I haven't been able to take a look since its been light out) there was no damage to the actual door. To me it just looks like its just not lining up right.

I have looked at the pics but they don't tell me a lot. I need a pics from the outside to see how the door now lines up, looks to me like the bush caught the top of the door, especially if there is no damage to the door panel or 'A' post which there does not appear to be.

I need pics of the following to be sure:

1, Straight on which must include the body of the car so I can see how it fits all round, but not distant.

2, Looking down the side of the car from front to rear to see if the front edge of the door protrudes.

3, Looking down the side of the car rear to front to see if the rear edge protrudes.

4, One pic showing the join from the outside where the door is attached to the 'A' Post, that is front edge where the hinges are, again from the outside.

Normally when this happens the front edge of the door gets 'kinked' and you will see this, one of your pics shows the top window frame bent a little which is an easy fix. Open the window, open the door and close the door against a block of 4 x 2 wrapped in soft cloth so not to damage the paint work. Place your knee against the bottom of the door to stop it twisting then GENTLY push on the top corner of the window frame. Do not be too aggressive as it is easy to bend the frame the opposite way and it will kink where it joins the frame. A little at a time, close the door and see how it sits, the roof line from the front to rear corner should be the same.

P.S I would not say you are a moron, just unlucky. Most of the time this happens when people open their doors without looking and it either gets torn off by another car/motorbike or hit by a cyclist.
