Default CCM Central Locking Electrical Woes

2000 2.0 GL Hatch

I'm helping my mother diagnose and fix an electrical problem.

I've read through a lot of results/feedback on this forum and I've gotten a good few suggests as this seems to be a friendly helping community. So here's my problem any useful feedback is greatly appreciated.

The driver's door hatch release and door lock/unlock don't work. Fuel door release does (on that note, I swapped the fuel door wiring to the hatch release button which did also still work for release the fuel door). Zero noise made when either hatch or lock/unlock pressed. Also from the driver's side, interior lights don't come on when door opens and I don't know if the mirrors operate because the toggle has been broken. Passenger's side door enables interior lights when open.

The key fob is now currently lost. Well it's been lost for a year plus. It didn't operate lock/unlock or hatch. The tipping point since the fob was lost is the spare doesn't work in the hatch lock therefore the hatch is perma-stuck. I have released the rear hatch via interior dis-assembly of the cover to test the hatch motor mechanism. The motor worked when engaging the unlock switch by replicating the turning of the hatch lock; this also unlocked the doors.

My next step is to find a replacement Comfort Control Module (CCM) and see if that helps. Oh and the fuses relative to the locking system (6 and 38 I believe off the top of my head are good). Any suggestions aside from the CCM? Am I on the right track to think the CCM is a culprit?

You might want to get it scanned with VCDS (aka Vag-Com); I know my trunk lock and mirrors have a fault codes, even though no warning light comes on.

The CCM, if it is faulty should produce a fault code; I doubt it would trigger a warning light letting you know.
