Default New To NB! Have Some ?'s and Issues

Hey everyone! My name is Nick I've been a longtime owner of a 02 Jetta 1.8t (and frequent VW Vortex) and just got a pretty good deal on a NB for my wife. Along with that deal came some issues.

To start, its a 2000 GLX 1.8T auto with 77k and I got it for $1700. First thing I did was change the timing belt and waterpump...

Here are some of the issues that I have with the car:
A couple lights in the cluster do not light up ever. Airbag, ABS, ASR, and Brake. Are all these lights related in some way?

Also, there is no chime when the lights are left on or the door is open with the key in the ignition. All the lights do light up however and you can not lock the car with the remote when the drivers door is open, so I know that it is not the microswitch in the door itself.

All of these problems seem related in some way or another.

That's it for the interior.

On the the exterior and engine.
The engine runs like new and transmission shifts very smooth.

Aux electric waterpump is missing and I would like to reinstall but I'm not sure what the harness looks like that plugs into it and not real sure where it goes as my Jetta is a manual and does not have this. I've read that it bolts to the radiator fan shroud? Anyone have a picture of the harness and the pump in the correct spot?

Washer pump does not work and I'm trying to figure out how to get to it. Does the passenger headlight have to come out?

Fog lights do not work and looks like the harness at each fog was cut. Also, the inside temp display does not work and I have a feeling that these 2 issues are related since the car was in an accident that involved replacing the front bumper and hood.

If anyone could give me any ideas and any pictures of the above problems I would greatly apprectiate it!

My wife loves this car and actually TBH I actually enjoy driving it too! She's lucky its an auto or I'd steal it from her

Thanks in advance everyone!

Newbie Welcome Kit!

Welcome to the ORG. And congrats on the New Addition

Not sure if I can help you with your issues. But I know that someone here will chime in.

The outside temp sensor should be on the drivers side behind the black plastic grill. The Fog lights probably have been damaged during the accident and may need to be replaced? Or if they replaced them perhaps there is an issue with the foglight harness? Not sure about your lights on the dash. Perhaps a fuse? I have a 2000 GLX with a 5 Speed and love it. I heard so many horror stories about the O1M 4 Speed Automatics of those years. I would change the fluid in that transmission at your earliest convenience. I know that VW deems it a lifetime fill but it isn't and really needs to be changed every 50-60k miles. So yours is definitely due.

Good Luck and keep us posted and post some pics when you get the chance.

I need to check the fuses. I think I read that the ccm module controls a lot of those things. But I would think the locking system would be affected which its not.
