Arrow help!! My remote key isnt working :(

I thought replacing the old battery would work, just bought the car from a dealer today, its a 2003 beetle...
I replaced it and it still isnt workimg, so i ordered a new remote.....now how do i program it without having a second key, i only recieved one key because the original owner never gave the dealer the 2nd key
This is my first car....

You can't program the remote without a second key. Well, you can but you will need a Vag Com/VCDS software. Check with other VW/Audi enthusiasts in your area. I am sure there will be some that have a Vag Com and would be willing to program your remote.
Or you can go to the dealer they have the same VAG type software and they can easily program your remote. Not sure what they will charge but it won't be free unless you are buddy, buddy with someone at the dealership.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

PS: You might as well take both remotes to the dealer, they can program both remotes for you at the same time.

I already fixed it.
If you hold down 1 or 3 for a second and then unlock or lock the door it programs it.
It said so in the manual. 3.1 page 20 i believe it was.

Thank you tho!

No, Thank you! I didn't even know that. I have one remote that doesn't seem to be working. I have put new batteries in and so far I haven't been able to get it to work.

What exactly did you do? I may have to give it a try for my other remote. Maybe it's not fried after all
