Default Battery & Timing Belt Question

Sorry to be starting a new thread about timing belts. Just got my 2002 GLX worked on yesterday. I had the timing belt, water pump, serp belt, tensioner, roller, & sparkplugs replaced at 60k. Wanted to be safe rather than sorry. Anyways, I was assuming the battery would have to be disconnected before replacing these parts. Is this not the case? I was surprised to see my clock and radio still had all the same settings as when I brought the car in.

Also, is there any sure way to check whether they put synthetic oil in my car like I asked them to? The mechanic says they did, but the sticker they put on my window for the next change has a box checked saying regular all-climate oil was used, and not the synthetic. Maybe just a clerical error?

they didn't disconnect my battery when they did my timing belt job.

and you could take some oil out and compare it to the 2 kinds maybe? if it were me i'd call them and tell them to ask the guy who did it what he used, and mention that the sticker says otherwise.

Okay, makes me feel better knowing they didn't disconnect your battery either.

As for the oil, when I picked it up the owner told me he replaced using the synthetic, but late last night I noticed the sticker, and they were closed by then. Was just curious if maybe it was easy to tell by looking at the dipstick.

No easy way to tell by looking at the oil, you would have to have it analyzed to get an answer (maybe). Next time, buy the oil and either change it yourself or have the mechanic change it.
