Default Mass Air Flow sensor

Can a mass air flow sensor make your car lose power when you push the gas pedal all the way down it flutters like its gonna die and will not rive up stays at about 3 rpm sounds awful i took off the sensor and it rived up just fine does that let me know thats the problem? the plug-in that the air flow sensor plugs into the red part inside is dry rotted can you get a new plug? and where could i find one i have been looking every where on the internet i hope its just the air flow sensor thats bad would the o2 sensor cause this problem also?

Try cleaning the MAF first and see if it helps.

First thing I would do is get your car scanned for codes to see what we are dealing with. You can spend a lot of money guessing what it "Might" be without actually ever fixing your problem.

Also what type of engine and transmission do you have?

Did you check for vacuum leaks? Replace any old rubber hoses?

You can try and disconnect the MAF and see if it improves your issue. Check for vacuum leaks.

ok just figured that might be the problem since it does better with the MAF out my bug is a 2000 gls with a 2.0
