Default remote key fob not working

Ok I went out to my car this morning and I couldn't unlock my car with my key remote. Help!! This is the first time this has happened. I'm sure its something simple like replacing the battery (I hope) but I thought i'd come here first.

You can take the remote apart by pulling it in two - one part will have the key, the other will have the fob. The fob can be split again to reveal the two button cells.

Is the little red light flashing when you hit one of the buttons?

Then more then likely your battery is dead, that was the case with mine a couple of weeks ago.

What does it mean when the little red light is flashing?

I accidentally washed my key for the first time ever, took it apart, cleaned it out, let it dry, replaced the battery.

Now if I take the battery out, it works for one lock/unlock and then starts flashing like crazy.

Any info is appreciated.
