I own a 99 VW. My engine light is constantly on and my O2 sensor is bad. I would like to replace this myself, because I do not trust mechanics, they seems to enjoy taking advantage of females when you take your VW to get serviced. Can anybody give me some info????

yes, it is very easy to do..
All you need is a adjustable wrench and a very strong arm, But there are 2 o2 sensors, one is infront of the other so just change out whatever one you need, Jack the car up and crawl up under it. then follow down the exhaust pipe until you see it. i did my own a couple of months ago, it is a def . DIY dont be scared to get in there and get dirty. But it is very hard to get it out, mine was in really tight! but after hitting it enough it popped loose, and dont do it after you drive, you will be handeling the exhaust pipeing while changeing it. this is where i got mine. very good price and very fast shipping. http://www.worldimpex.com/item_detail.html?sku=179449 and dont worry about that CEL , it will go out after a few engine cycles and reset itself. good luck Andrew |
