Help Please. Outside Temp Gauge Stopped Working

Hi there! I have a 2000 New Beetle 1.8T, and the outside temperature gauge stopped working after a friend and I did some autobody and paint work on the car.

I think a sending wire must have come off or something. Do any of you know where the outside temperature gauge resides in the car? I would greatly appreciate the help.

I have seen it before... If memory serves, it's down by the driver's side fog light. It's a little black thing kinda like a medicine dropper I think.
If there's nothing fishy there that you can find, try the other side! It's down near the bottom of the front end somewhere
