VW should be responsible for loss or damage of the disc; so they should replace the unit and replace/return the original CD... I'd think, at least. Call VWoA.

Isn't there a little "emergency extraction hole" on the face of the OEM deck? All CD players should have 'em... but I've never actually checked the VW headunit for one. Should be a pin-sized hole under the lower left corner of the CD slot.
If there is a hole, you stick an unbent paperclip in... and it manually pushes the CD eject mechanism. If there's a CD in the deck, that should pop it out. If nothing comes out, it means the player is most likely empty. If there's no CD in it, and it's still making a grinding noise, I'd imagine a replacement would be in order... but it all depends on what's still under warranty. |

Try a popsicle stick into the slot. If you feel resistance, CD. If none...
