Default A/C Air Control busted

I can flip between defrost and floor vents but nothing out the main dash vents. I hope it isn't a hot summer.

Actually I had luck fixing my fan switch not long ago, so I guess this is another example of not-so-durable product quality.

Anybody come across this? The control actually felt waaay too tight one day and I forced the matter and it got "floppy" and now this "no forward air" seems to be the result.

Other than the cheapo plastic crap that breaks off every so often, I really like my NB TDI!

Have you recently removed the radio?

There's 2 little 'sticks' which control the turning on and off of the centre blowers - on mine they're purple. Sometimes when working behind the dash, or putting the radio in/out they can become dislodged and get stuck in the 'closed' position. Really easy to fix, just remove the radio and 'snap' them back into place and carefully install the radio.

Replaced the radio... not terribly long ago. Maybe the control "caught" something hanging down from a less-than-tidy radio installation?

I'll check out these purple sticks -- thanks vy much!!

Well it seems to happen a lot when I take the radio out. I take mine out a lot cos I have a colour coded 'dummy' radio which I put in for shows

Got it. Well sort of. It isn't really "fixed" but I finagled those sticks to where it is blowing out the front vents for now. They seem somehow disengaged from the control knob mechanism. I got at them by pulling off the molding that goes around the hazard and defrost (and my WVO) buttons. Also fixed problematic flasher, (see this thread).
