Lack of sponsors, low attendance, and high gas prices have conspired to end the show.

And I was finally getting around to getting my registration in. I guess there is always year 10 if he isn't saying that is the end of Roswell forever.

Then it's true, we are definitely in a recession.

I always had a blast at this show, so sad to see it gone, even if it's just for a year! I hope it's just for a year! Maybe David could find someone else to help with it?

Well - just got a response from David.

He said "VW pulled their sponsorship, the two dealerships that were helping have pulled out .... so it's over."

No year 10...the Roswell Show is over.

The first reaction is to be mad at David, but I know that he was really reaching out to get help with the show. He has done everything possible (from my vantage point) to keep this show running.
I commend his hard work for the past 8 years, putting on a show is tough and putting on a show for that many years took alot of passion and hard work!

Thanks David! Thanks for the run and another outlet for me to meet and hang out with my beetle friends for so many years!

The show will be missed.
I will be first to sign up if a year 10 would be announced...but if this is it...thanks for the memories!

I've only been three times but was looking forward to the 10th for another trip down that way. Lotsa fun and good memories.

Well I guess I won't be planning attending this year. What a bummer. So the whole thing is scraped? Maybe there could be a gathering of NB folk like a huge GTG?

On the Topica List they are talking about having a get together next year...show or not. Because it would be the 10th anniversary of the show. Just to hang out - no trophies.

Who knows maybe there will be a group of devoted Roswell fans that can get a committee together to carry on a show for '09.

As for this year...I'm thinking it's done...most will make the trip for a milestone line the 10th year...but not this year.

Well that just sucks!!I know what it takes to put on a show. I thought David did a good job of putting on this show(5 yrs for us attending). Shows around here (Okla.)are getting less sponsors and the car count is becoming less. Hopefully there will be a 10th ann. show. We're in for any kind of GTG in Roswell in the future. We use this as family reunion (beetle family) where we see everyone from all parts of the country once a year. WE'll miss seeing everyone. Thanks all for the memories. Bobby& Tina

Maybe we can start a new show somewhere else. We have just restarted the Colorado Club, maybe next year we could do an all new beetle show in Colorado Springs. June is a great time of year here not HOT like Roswell and we have lots of stuff to do, it could be gerat. Email me at the Colorado web site and post here to let me know what you think.

Getting our NB two years ago, both of us being retired, and being in Roswell for the last two years, and meeting all the super NB people, made us feel like we were getting younger, not older! Wish we would have purchased the NB sooner! Thanks for the memories......and if there is a 10th, we'll be there!

i'm glad i went for the route 66 tour last year. i was concerned the show might not make it a full ten years and that's part of why i went.

i would love to go on a road trip in 2009 that happens to include the town of Roswell, NM. maybe stop by the TNBRU on the way out there. maybe have a margarita or two with some VW friends while i am there. that would be good enough for me as a commemoration of the 10th anniversary.

the feeling of going to the first roswell was indescribable and it was never quite like that again.

kind of appropriate that i spent half an hour yesterday trying to jump start spacepod without success. but don't worry-- spacepod will live again, even if r2k doesn't.

I like stormys idea of colorado, Magu will be sad not to be abl e and show off his 10 year face lift. boo hoo, I can not believe vw hosed the show that badly, but hey they are in it for the buck, not like they are going to sell most of us another new new beetle. Kansas would also be a great place to host a show, kind of in the middle of the union for most people, we will have to see what develops.

Since I've already took off for work, I would be down for that..Or change the dates for the New Beetle Round Up!!

LOL - are you kidding me, on my vacation - I don't wanna work.

I'm probably doing some sort of road trip that week, just gotta figure out where to go. Vegas might be too far away, but the thought crossed my mind.
