Default CENTRAL Caravan Itinerary

Hey Volks.

The following are the overnight stops for the CENTRAL Caravan. Please make your reservations soon in case things start to book up fast because summer is coming. Also, you must tell the Rolla and OK City locations that you are with the “New Beetle Group”.

Monday June 22:

Joliet, IL

Best Western Joliet Inn & Suites, 4380 Enterprise Dr.

Book Online and select “internet rate” for the best $56.24 deal. It makes you pay in advance, but allows you to cancel or change 7 days in advance.

CENTRAL is going Green; this place is “Eco-friendly”! Price includes pool, wifi, hot breakfast, fitness room, and hot tub!!

Tuesday June 23:

Rolla, MO

America’s Best Inns, exit 184

Call and ask for Nina or Andy (573-364-4156) who will give a better rate to us of $44.92 for one or two beds. Motel has wifi, breakfast, but no pool.

Wednesday June 24:

Oklahoma City, OK

Howard Johnson Express Inn, 400 S. Meridian

Email Natalie, nhamilton@coxinet.net for the rate of $47 single, and $52 two beds; she will try to keep us all close together. Rooms include wifi, pool, and good breakfast.

Also, please contact me if you are joining us so I know where to meet up with you and how many to expect. These are suggested places to stay, and you are entirely welcome to make your own arrangements.

Howie

I believe I actually emailed you directly on Monday, Marc. I said that I responded to your post on the other thread (return to Roswell).

We'll be arriving in Rolla, MO on Tuesday June 23 in the afternoon, leaving by 9 the next morning. So I guess you could leave home early and meet us at the hotel in Rolla, or spend the night with us. The info to make reservations is posted above in another message.

What other info do you need?

Howie

Howie -

Can you give approximate arrival times for your final stops or major stops? This might help others who are planning to join the caravan something to shoot for.

For those of you who wish to join this or any other caravan, you need to trade cell phone numbers with the leader. The leader will probably have someone else designated to make a call to let you, the joinee, know where the caravan is located. There is nothing precise about the join up process. We literally pick some people up at the side of the road as we fly by or you pick them up at the final stop of the night or first thing in the morning.

I will be joining the Central Caravan in Amarillo at the Big Texan. The approximate arrival time in Amarillo will be around noon. Translation: I will be at the Big Texan around 11:30 and be waiting in the parking lot or inside having a glass of tea. They will get there when they get there.

Lisa Herr has my phone number and maybe Jerry. Lisa will probably call me when they are about an hour out from Amarillo.

If the Eastern Caravan is in town that morning and will be waiting for the Central Caravan, I may go hang with them for a little while. I haven't heard what time they will be arriving in Amarillo on Wed. night.

We usually arrive at the sleepover stop by 5 pm. This year, because we are doing a bit of sightseeing again along Route 66, I unfortunately do not have times where we can meet people at the side of the road or at a rest area like in previous years where we just drove. I figure we'll be at the Rock Cafe by 2, but that's all I've really tried to calculate. If someone is meeting up with us in the morning at the overnight stop, please be there by 8-ish am.

I have Lisa Herr's cell number to contact, but people will have to contact her for it. I don't want to just post it.

Howie <----- is it time to leave yet??

I know of at least 3 NBs that are planning to join up Thursday morning. I will pass on the "8-ish am" info. Thanks for all planning and scheming, Howie. Only 2 more weeks.

Better plan on leaving a little earlier! I left for OKC at 5am and didn't make it there until 8. They're doing construction. It probably didn't help that a Jetta hit the median and had the highway down to one lane for 2 miles at a standstill..

Update. After getting new tires put on. I was down the road trying to check if the tires were round. After the 4th time I broke the left axle. New one won,t be here until maybe Tues Hopefully I can install it in time for the Thurs AM meet in OKC. I disconnected the NITROUS. Don,t need anymore problems.
