Hope you can make it!

We normally do it as a straight 7-8 hour run, breaking it up in Sweetwater seems like a little overkill to us...also, taking off the extra day.

If you can afford the time off - for your first Roswell, Central is caravan to ride with, it really is a cool experience to drive in a long line of bugs and watch the faces of the folks that pass, or when you stop somewhere.

The only reason I wouldn't be able to make it is that my team from work has a meeting around that time every year... it should be anywhere from 1-3 weeks before that, but there's a chance it could fall during the week of the 6th thru the 10th. I won't know until they schedule it, and I can't miss the team meeting. So, fingers crossed!

And hey, my mom was from Roswell, and I'm sure that's at least one of the reasons I am the way I am... you know, aliens and all...

Can't wait. The only "out west" I've ever been is San Francisco. And I flew there. So I'm excited to be driving to the desert! Can't wait. Even Matt's excited now!

I would think that doing a straight run is the way to go... when I drive to ABQ I always drive straight thru.

I can imagine that seeing the long line of bugs is a cool sight!

I remember my drive to R2R and i really wanted to get into Dallas, or at least out of the Metroplex in one day. Sadly Cup's ig switch went out and night driving was out. At least I got about 12 hours of driving in.

Being that i'll be driving with a carabugavan this time around, I don't think the troops will be up for a 12+hr. drive- we'll see what the future holds.

TOTALLY AGREE! I flew to Sacto back in '96 and the drive west is like night and day. It's something everyone should do at least once in their lifetime, at least I think so.

Yeah - I finally got to run way out East to do the Tail this year and in 2012 it's planned to make it out West to Cali for the VW Classic, so I know what you guys mean by being stoked to make a long run like that.

Al man, I drive to Michigan in one day. 14+ hours depending on traffic and I only stop for fuel/food/bathroom breaks! Then again, we're headed west. I might want to stop here and there and take some pics of some things too. You're bringing Val this time right? And with Matt as my co-pilot...I'm sure we'll have everything you need to prevent a major breakdown

Michelle, that's why we're such good friends- we're cut from the same cloth! I'm all about getting there without all the dilly-dally. Now don't get it twisted, I'll stop in a minute for a good photo op or sightsee break. All in all I like to just get there!

It's gonna be a great ride.

And no, Val's not coming. I'm trying to persuade her, but she's not budging yet. Even if I get the a/c fixed, which I will, she's still a no. Although I missed Val big time, I really like the solo flight.

I'm in.

I have a friend in san antonio who I missed meeting irl in 08 when I was working a gig in Austin. He said if I went to this I could stay with him.

Plus I've decided that if there's one event I REALLY want to go to, it's Roswell. I've never been, always wanted to, and its a NB thing!

I love the Austin crowd!!

Yeah ... you know I got rear ended and the guy ran off, right? I'm still paying for that. I'll never volunteer to be valet again. Ever.

Aww...Val's gotta come! Matt is excited. He wants to go! Though I think he's going to try and bug me to let him drive.....doubt it'll happen. I'm very much the same way. I like to stop and sight see, but I like driving too. I just feel like if I don't hurry I will miss something! lol

I'm glad a lot of the ToD 2k10 folks will be there. It'll be nice to see everyone again. Now I'm still hoping and praying that funds will be available to go to this. Money is tight between Matt and I, but we'll pinch our pennies as tight as we can. We're so doing ToD AND Roswell!!!! Thank goodness I have a diesel...atleast we can save on the fuel part of the trip! haha.

OMG THIS IS GOING TO BE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It looks like it will be a big event again, isn't this what everyone wanted to happen??

"I'm so excited!!!" I really hope Fiona isn't going to be a brat, so far 2 out of 2 long trips she has freaked out and kept me stranded in the desert, I will be there with or without her but without her would be a lot harder for me to go because I will miss her and want her there

Ouch I felt your elbow poking me in the ribs as you were bragging about your gas mileage

And I too will be pinching pennies- I can't miss TOD.

Casey I think Cup's bratty behavior is dwindling. I'll have her give Fiona a call and maybe she'll straighten up and fly right.

I'm still bringing an ig switch for good measure

Haha that's good news about Cup, Fiona is just fine as long as we are in CA it seems, once we leave here she freaks out and doesn't want to work...so spoiled, but maybe you're right, maybe Cup can talk her into being good

I am bringing a fuel filter as well just in case although her last freak out was due to the engine speed sensor but she did the same thing as when we went to Roswell

I loved looking at your photos from the last event!

There are quite a few folks that make the trip from California. You could always look into caravaning with some of those folks.

Earl is from the area as well, he's the head Alien.

Didn't someone once say, "Half the adventure is getting there"
