If we do the other side of 35w meet up, let's plan for a departure time...7am or 7:30 at the very latest? What do ya think?

Do you have a map of the exact route we plan to take? Mom wants to know where she might join up...Are we going through Lamesa?

2011 Texas Caravan(s) Planning

Post #10 - but it needs to be revised for a new start location if we are heading out near 35W...that won't affect you though.

We are planning meeting up with some of the SE folks at Sweetwater before we change highways (I haven't looked at the map in a while to know what exact towns we go through).

Thought I would point this out to all the Caravans...

Download your Photo Log sheet and get your cameras ready! Should be something fun to break up the long trip!

Okay Gang - getting close - does 7am on the other side of 35W sound like a better location to meet. Possibly at a eating joint for those that want to get their earlier to get an early breakfast in them.

Sounds like the I-40/Flordia Caravan is going to stop for the night in Abilene or Sweetwater and we might hook up with them depending on how soon we can get to their area and if they aren't in a hurry to get going Thursday morning. That would be pretty cool because their caravan is starting to get larger each day...possibility of 5-8 bugs traveling into Roswell together.

Let me know what you guys think and who is still planning on meeting up with me - we will need to start pm-img each other phone numbers to make sure we can contact each other on Thursday.

Channel 6 no security code for FRS communications as always.

If we can get a new meeting location I will update the first post and the google maps route.

I'd like to meet the caravan where Highway 6 Meets I-20 in Eastland if at all possible. It's Exit 340 off of I-20 (you'll cross under the overpass and there is a big Shell station on the left).

My mom will possibly be joining us in Brownfield.

Okay - Map Update -
Return2Roswell2011 - Texas Caravan - Google Maps

Looks like:
7:00am - Depart from IHOP Restaurant‎ - I-30 exit 7A (I believe), 2015 South Cherry Lane, White Settlement, TX 76108-3603
Marvins_dad, Baby Sallie, ???SilverBella, ???jason m, ???SenileDavid

8:30am - Meet up with Cameron at I-20 and Hwy 6 - I-20 exit 340(?)
Cameron_Talley

9:30am - Meet up with SE Caravan/Bugavan/Carabug (if they can wait this long) in Abilene - Exit to be determined
Chuckie, kcfoxie, bugturbo2002, ???scarabY2k

After Sweetwater, Tx we will turn onto HWY 84 until Post - then turn onto HWY 360 for the rest of the trip.

Lunch - Snyder or Post? I believe we normally stop at Post and refuel...but we will play it by ear and stomach.

Google Maps estimates 8 hours straight drive time...so with 1 hour lunch and other stops I would guess 10 hours total to get to Roswell from Fort Worth. So that would put us in Roswell around 5pm. With time to check in and walk or drive our cars 200 feet to Tia Juana's by 7pm for the Welcome get together.

Looks good!

Exit 340 is correct for the Eastland stop. It's actually a Shell station off the interstate, not the town of Eastland. You'll exit 340, turn left under the overpass, and the Shell station is right there (pretty hard to miss!).

As for lunch: Not too many options in either Snyder or Post, but I think Post is probably a better choice. But we'll just play it by ear. Lots of places in Sweetwater if we're hungry then...

I seem to remember a Pizza Hut or something like that when you are changing roads...but it has been a couple years since I have made the trek.

There's a Dairy Queen in Post, and there are a few local places in post. Hmmm...There's a Pizza Hut in Brownfield, I think. Also a McDonalds.

Less than 24 hours until we depart from Fort Worth.
Looks like it is just Ana and I?
Picking up Cameron and the SE Caravan along the way...or we are joining them - they have been at this longer.

If you don't have my cel number, message me and I will send it to you.

I'm planning on rolling out of Waco at 6:30! Hopefully I will beat you to Eastland but if you get there before I do, just text me and I'll let you know where I am.

Looking forward to it!

I'll still be in Roswell, but I'm not going to be able to join the caravan. I have a hearing aid issue that needs attending to.

Beyond frustrated, but it's not something I can ignore. I'll see y'all there when I get there.

Alright - can't ignore that - for sure! Hope all works out and you can make it by dinner!

Looks like we are still planning on rolling at 7am from Fort Worth for anyone one else that might have changed their minds.
8:30-9:00 to hit Abilene and meet up with the SE Caravan crew.

Car is packed, just need to finish packing my bag and toiletries and get some sleep...adrenaline can only go so far...
