in 2013 I will strive NOT to get the hard luck award again as a repeat of 2009 hahaha and if Fiona doesn't behave we are gonna have some issues

I will probably not go back to Roswell due to the long drive and as I have found out my car can not compete with all those beetles.

I'm sorry to hear that. Roswell has always been more about the people than the awards. That was why we had "fun awards" instead of a competition for the best beetles. There were only 4 panel judged trophies this year. I know there is much discussion about this. Would love for you to join in that discussion in the 2013 thread.

If it helps, my first Roswell I thought I was a shoe-in for my class and Barbie Beetle...I think many folks I knew and met at the show thought so too...Well, I was completely shut out of all awards I felt I was in the running for. I even said, "I will never come back to Roswell!" Jacob asked me if I was serious and told me that I needed to think about it a bit. I made it back the next year and the next...for a total of 5 Roswells (starting in 2003)...and now I am one of the Organizers for the past 2 years. It really is the people that is the reason I keep driving out to the middle of the desert to commune with the Aliens and hang out with unique New Beetle owners...at much extra expense and time throughout the year planning and producing stuff for the show.

I would love to come every time I like to mingle with new beetle owners but seems everyone is into there own group. My car and my family went through lots to make it there this year. It all depends on how things go

Sorry about that - I would have spent more time chatting with you guys if I wasn't running around with my head cut off. I know lots of folks got to know each other on here and the Facebook page before going to Roswell, so when they met it was like meeting old friends.

I was happy you got it. I thought about your car when I made the award category in 2009 because you had started your car and hadn't cleared it yet. It was kind of a best work in progress or project car award.
