Default The Volkswagen Nanuk Is On The Way

The mini Toureg is set to hit the shores but has no name yet. Can you believe the choices are Nanuk, Namib, Rocton, Tiguan or Samun?

What the heck does all that mean??

Why are they choosing all these odd names that people can't even pronounce? Stick with simple words, like Rabbit or Thing

edit: Just went to the site to see exactly "what the heck they mean" Kinda lame...

I want to say Nanoo Nanoo as if we are still in the days of Mork and Mindy. LOL. I wonder if it will be delievered in an egg... now that would be cool. Im not a huge fan of having more SUVs in the line... but there are prob. still demand from others... just not me. But I do like the idea that is is a smaller size and goes with the rest of the line well (what am I saying, I own a beetle without the crome front LOL)

Great find Todd.

EDIT: you me Toureg is not pronounced TOE RAG? hehehe Gina you have a great point... VW used to stick to a little more American terms, ie: rabbit, fox, golf... which seem slightly odd... they just need to find a happy middle. LOL at least its not like the company (Ford or chevy, but I think it was ford) that was going to name the car "Impact"... lol, you just can't do that.

I like the Nanuk name, but I think calling it the Volkswagen Touareg Mini was the logical choice?

Isn't "Nanuk" a little politically incorrect? All those native Alaskans are gonna get pretty upset!

Chevy sill sold the Nova (no go) in Spanish Speaking regions, I'm sure that was a slap in the face too (or just bad marketing).

For what it's worth, I'd be honored if a car capable of roaming the ice was named after my people's word for an animal of similar capability. Remember, NATIVE Americans aren't as sue-happy as Post-Modern ones

Or are they?

Default Nanuk Is Leading In The Polls

Interesting that Samun is probably what VW will go for because of the "wind" reference
