Default The Eos is now in the dealerships

I just got a call from my salesperson. The VW Eos is officially at the dealerships. Byers in Columbus, OH has them in. I will probably go in to test drive one this weekend.

Just thought every one should know!

they cost wayyyy to much...26,500 6speed manual up to 42,000

this somewhat justifies the cost...but meh i'd rather pick up something hotter...

I saw one at my local dealer a few weeks ago. Dealers have been getting one model to show off and offer test-drives in, but they're still not officially for sale.

I'm going for a test-drive this week, for sure.

Believe me, once you've seen it in the flesh, you'll think it's a bargain. Interior material, fit, and finish is far better than on the Rabbit and Jetta, maybe even a bit better than the new Passat, and in person, it looks like a Mercedes, period. No one is going to think this is a sub-$30k car when they see it.

That said, no TDI in the States, so I think I'll pass.

Saw a blueish Eos this morning in the dealership lot. 8am and people were already looking at it in awe. Looked good and was mid conversion to droptop with all the roof bits folded halfway. Might go check it out if i go out at lunch.

Pulled in to pick up my car, in for servicing, and walked into the sales manager's office and asked if I could test drive the new Eos. He said "of course, Todd. Your'e a return VW buyer. He handed me the key, walked me out to the Eos and showed me all the bells and whistles and off I went.

And I didn't come back for almost an hour.

Nice ride...only problem is even though I have been on the waiting list since it was rumoured, they willl only have 2200 available and most are already spoken for (including the one I test drove). Most will be sold in the top 15 dealerships and if your small dealership has one, chances are it will be pulled to fill orders in the bigger dealerships.

Oh, well I will wait until they get the bugs worked out and maybe order in January (during the sales slump).

Exactly!! What makes us think they can get the vert / sunroof right when they can't get my automatic driver's window fixed?
More electronic gagets and more trouble.

I sat in one this morning and listened to the radio at the dealership while they were working on my bug. I would have test driven it but I didn't see any sales people in, it was like 8 in the morning though lol... it's really nice car though!

Bill and I sat in one at the dealer this morning. The seats were hard, the top was down, but I could tell that it had no headroom, and they wanted $42K for it!

Sorry, but no dice.

It actually has plenty of headroom. We sat in one a couple weeks back that was stickered at $35,xxx. We liked it. We were given demos of the roof opening and closing and how the spacing in the trunk works with the top up or down. Seats are suppose to be hard and firm (they are actually not uncomfortable either, as they are like that in Mercedes as well. German cars are never meant to feel like you are driving a couch down the road.

Hubby and me looked at a 2.0T EOS this weekend, and if I didn't already have my NBC, this would be my convertible.

I now need to talk Hubby out of getting a Passett Wagon next year and get an EOS instead! Every home needs 2 convertibles.

I know that it is a nice car and the value is actually pretty good at $35K for the technology involved.

However, I think VW made another mistake with a high priced car. VW started out as an inexpensive auto maker.

Tell me how they can ask $20K for a New Beetle and Toyota asks $20K for the new Camry?

Don't get me wrong I'm a New Beetle lover and I own 2, but can you imagine the profit margin?

Well, we didn't get the opportunity to check it our. The EOS we saw was a "Paprika Red", on the showroom floor, top down, windows up, and locked.

We felt lucky to just get someone to unlock it for us, and let us sit in it. We didn't push our luck, getting to playing with the top.

The bottom line for me, was the out of this world price. The sticker said $29,990, and they had it jacked up to $42,039. No way!

The Pontiac G6 convertible also goes for over $30,000 as well and no way I'd pay that for a Pontiac! (GTO maybe). The Eos is one of the cheaper cars that has the clamshell opening/closing roof (and the roof includes a sunroof). If the MSRP was $42,039, I agree, that's too far of a stretch....I'd be looking for Lexus or Acura then.....but if you keep the option list low and the price around $30k or so, then this is not a bad value. The one we looked at/sat in was Candy white with Moonrock leather interior and the Sport package and the MSRP was just over $35k. I didn't look for the additional markup sticker, as I refuse to agree to that part of the dealer's pricing scheme. Myself....I'd be worried about the reliability of the roof mechanics that open/close the roof. We watched all the little things going on inside the body, that has to occur when the roof is doing its thing.

Hi,
My friend works for Pontiac and he wouldn't even sell one of those Pontiac hard top verts. because of them being unsafe in rear end collisions. The steel top would go through the rear passengers.
