July New Beetle sales are up 2.6 percent over last year and 2006 sales are up 3.9 percent over last year. I guess that's a good sign....

New Beetle sales have been slightly up pretty consistently since the refresh. I'm waiting for Crispin Porter + Bogusky to work their magic on the New Beetle with a good ad campaign; that would help keep up the growth.

Of course, this is after years of consistently decreasing sales, so sales are still well below their peak from around 1999/2000. Also, remember a few years back, when it appeared that the MINI was going to unseat the New Beetle? Well, today, both cars are selling about the same. From from BMW's July sales report:

July 2006/July 2005 - 3,528 / 3,662 (-3.6%)
YTD 2006/YTD 2005 - 23,554 / 25,641 (-8.1%)
