Default Volkswagen IROC/Scirocco Concept Unveiled

The Volkswagen IROC concept for the upcoming Scirocco was unveiled today. I'm sure it will end up being toned down as much as the Concept A was for the Tiguan but what do you all think? Hard to get past that green but I think it would look good in other colors.

Okay, I've lost all interest. VWVortex had added more photos and this thing is just hideous.

IROC... as in International Race of Champions? Meaning... this is what they may race or something?

no IROC is taken from Scirocco...ScIROCco.

Anyway you can bet that it wont look hardly anything like the conecpt when it goes to production, if it does. But i like it, its definately an outrageous design scheme to get people to notice their new cars. Give it a chance, it will calm down. Grab attention by these lines, and disappoint by production. Pretty common

I kind of like the styling, but the green gives it a reptilian look. I prefer the W12, myself.

Have you seen the side view photo yet? PIC I understand it's supposed to be racier looking than the GTI but this is taking it too far. It looks like something VW should be un-pimping in their commercials. As is it's definitely sucking.

I think the production version will be toned down significantly and in this case it's for the better. I imagine it would look much better without the concave doors and running plate and the border around the grill could be reduced. Oh, and painted something other than electric lime green.

Someone made this to reduce eyestrain...

Yep, it's even worse looking in profile. Too elongated. It looks like a stretched SUV.

I think if the front end was shaved a little and it had little smaller tires it would rock. Think tough XKE. and dif color.

Look at the guy inside the car in the picture ASurroca posted above. It looks like there is no headroom at all. I think that's okay for something like the Concept R but for this, especially if it is to replace the GTI, they really need to make some big changes. Raise the roof an inch or two and that will not only take care of headroom issue but also make the car look less stretched. The oversized running board and way the doors curve inward at the bottom makes it look very odd so those need to go. There are just so many things here that make me question Volkswagen's thinking. Giving the project name IROC, unveiling it in that color, etc. What time is it? Time to un-pimp your IROC.

Here are some videos I found on YouTube of the IROC press event...

Introduction Video

Interview with Wolfgang Bernhard

Interview with Chief-Designer Murat Günak

Interview with Designer Marc Lichte

Promotional Video

I like it a little more after seeing the videos but I still want to at least see the curvature of the doors eliminated. It's a little too bulbous looking as it is. The color looks like antifreeze and is really distracting. I know some like it but I don't think it was a good choice for the introduction. What do you think?
