Default Daimler To Sell Chrysler To Volkswagen

[SIZE="2"]I know, what a crazy thought but there is that German connection. Forbes thinks it is a viable scenario in this article

I don't see any 'german connection' between Chrysler and VW. ... maybe between Daimler....

But a failing US company isn't really what VW needs.

I don't see any incentive to buy... at least, not for VW.

Are they not supposed to work out together a new mini-van?

The German connection is Daimler itself, German company that owns the Chrysler name?

Well, I can see a positive aspect of buying Chrysler. Minivans aside, a Chysler car can be serviced in many more shops than a VW, and if the two were to start sharing their resources... then a new VW can go to any shop that can work on a Chrysler. Simplified thinking, I'm sure it'd never work out that way... a guy can dream...

In one aspect, Chrysler + VW does make sense and that is marketplace synergies. If VW concentrated on cars and Chrysler were pared down to areas of strength, pickup trucks, then the two might mesh nicely.

I dunno...we got burned badly by the Neon, so we're still a bit gunshy about considering a Chrysler product.

Come to think of it...Chrysler did abruptly stop those "Ask Dr. Z" ads a while ago....Hmmmm.

Maybe Dr. Z. did one too many takes for that "crash test dummy" commercial...

Chrysler's not an American company any longer, hasn't been since Daimler-Benz bought them. This is the first that I've heard of VW being interested in purchasing the Chrysler wing of DaimlerChrysler.

I heard WallyMart was going to buy all of the worlds car mfgr's and then offer the world the "Universal" car made in China. Makes sense since you can get your Universal serviced anywhere - and with cheap Chinese parts too!

Of course the cheap cost factor only lasts one year and then the price goes astronomical and we end up with a Chinese made Yugo. But that's OK because all of the smart people will have invested in Wally stock.

Volkswagen says not interested in buying Chrysler

The latest rumor is that GM may want to take Chrysler off Zetsche 's hands. Talk about a regulatory .
