Yeah, there is supposed to be some diesel for 08. I think VW will still call it a TDI.

A 2.0T would be a good upgrade for the Bug as well. Since you only get one base model engine for 07, they dropped the price by about a grand... would rather have a wider engine selection myself.

From what I have read yes, it will be the same engine as the Jetta and Golf. 2.0L, but still no word on 8 or 16 valves. It will be available after the Jetta, but still available.

It will be referred to as just "TDI" like before the TDI-PD" It will not be called "TDI-CR" as some had predicted.

I still can't wait to see what the Mileage estimates are. Many say that they should be better, but I suspect that 40mpg will be a "good" day on the road.

In the UK there are 5 engine choices for the New Beetle and 8 for the Golf. I guess they feel we are too stupid too make such decisions in the US. I hope they at least bring over the TSI eventually.

The dealer told me the other day that VW will introduce the Blue Motion technology to the US in 2008. This is already available in Germany I think. It's supposed to be super clean and efficient.

Looks like no real word yet on the 2008 New Beetle? Just a few vague guesses unfortunately. I'm surprised since vwvortex.com is full on details on the 2008 MKV's (Jetta, GTI, GLI, and Rabbit).
