If you couldn't figure out the OB, I'd hate to have you in my garage today!
Trying to force it into 3rd gear after the clutch failed probably didn't help matters.....which I did.

I don't wrench at all. All my work is done by the pros.

I do too, but I think the reason why is because it is actually a '98-'05 NB and not something new. Hopefully the new one isn't too different.

However, I will own up to something. I basically learned the hard way that if you have the mechanical skills of a tadpole (as I do), then you have no business trying to drive a 40-year-old car. From now on, I'm a strictly water-cooled guy. But for their day, the old Beetles were some of the best cars ever built. Obviously, mine wasn't, though. In six years, I went through 3 engines, 2 carbs, many points and rotors, a clutch, and a transmission. And I only drove it about 2000 miles a year!
Amazing I drove a 65 for close to 20 years and put in fewer parts than you.Granted I put in my fair share of points and the clutch and brakes are wear items. Think I put 2 -3 engines in it which were relativly inexpensive to build, but I figure I put close to 300K on it so I'll be interested to see if this NB can rack up that many miles with as little expense as the OB.

For shame. Beetles should be "round for a reason".

I believe this is an artist rendering and not an official VW press release. I wouldn't bet the farm that this is NOT gonna be the 2010 nB.

No I don't want them to change it. I want to buy one of the NB's in like 5 years or more and I want one like the ones that are out now I don't like that new one. It's not cute and round. It's like a VW/mini combined. I like the way the Beetle looks now. It's perfect as is

That picture is the rendering of the concept rag top from a few years ago, not the 2011.

Here are the first pictures I have seen that might possibly be closer to what the 2011 models might look like. VW is keeping this a well guarded secret for sure...

"HERNDON, VA., December 2, 2009 – Volkswagen of America, Inc. today announced the 2010 New Beetle and New Beetle convertible “Final” Editions, which will mark the last of Volkswagen’s current generation of the iconic models."

So what will the completely redesigned 2011/12 model be called then? New New Beetle? Really New Beetle? Seriously New Beetle?

I think they said before that it will be called "Beetle."

Default Artist rendering bug

I saw this, thought I would post it.

It was labeled artist rendering, looks like the up.

Ya know that would actually work as a nB replacement. The overall shape of the roofline is close to the current nB. the fenders have a bit of defination to them as well. This is one of the better artists renderings of the nB remodel i've seen. It looks cool enough that a dude would rock it. Wonder if this rendering was submitted to VWoA?

I agree. That would be quite acceptable as the next Beetle. It's distinctly different from the outgoing 12-year-old design, but still recognizable as a "Bug."
