Default Up! = 21st century Beetle?

I found this quote on the vortex, about the Up winning a concept car of the year award. Take a look at this quote:

In presenting the award, Charles Hallett, Editor of Autocar, commented: ‘It’s a brilliant concept car – but, importantly, a concept car that will become a reality. We like to think of it as a 21st Century Beetle – a stylish car that will provide affordable motoring for all, both here and in the developing world.’

Thought it was interesting they were referring to this car as a beetle, at least in concept.

Make it look like a Beetle and I'll buy one.

I'd gladly crush my beetle for a rear-engine, RWD TDI.

I read in one of the autoshow articles that this car is supposed to be able to give 67 mpg. I highly doubt it, but i'd check it out for 50!! Here's an article and pics: http://www.automobilemag.com/auto_sh...ept/index.html. The pics I saw originally were more impressive. Let's just see if this car ever gets made and is distributed in the US.

There are those fugly Turbo S Delta looking wheels again. Hate them!!!

I would jump on the opportunity to buy one of these, especially if they get 67mpg!
