I like the black square thingy in the center console lol. I'm sure these new cars are going to be EXPENSIVE! They are probably going to have so many fandangled tech gadgets and be so hyped up because of the auto award.

Hmmm does this mean I have to plug my VW into iTunes to recieve updates?! ROFL

If this is the case I fully expect my car to say. "Your Space Up! is in need of an update would you like to update now?" Along with a Sad face when something is wrong with the car.

UGH... Apple and the iPod. Everything these days is iPod this or iPod that. Man, I've been running MP3's in my cars since 1999, long before the iPod. I started ripping my CD collection, and now I don't even keep them anymore. After I rip them, it's off to a friend or in a drawer. I've never used itunes or any other service besides the Napster long ago... These days you don't want to go near any "free" download services like Gnutella or Limewire or the others, too much possible issues with viruses and spyware for me.
So basically, I cold care less about the iPod interface or any option for it. On the other hand, i love the aux inputs and MP3 capable decks. I had one before my NB that had an SD slot, USB port, CD-MP3, and a line in. Now I'm relegated to the tape adapter until I get the CD-changer mod for my deck to add the line in.

Don't worry Zune, you're not alone I've got a Zune instead of an iPod and I still adore the PhatBox I have in my Bug....

That said, if this thing comes to fruition and does become standard in all future Volkswagens, this will be the only Apple product I've ever bought and the third in my home (I rescued a working Apple IIc from the dumpster a decade ago, and rescued a Newton from a friend who was gonna toss it!)

As interesting as this sounds, I worry about its life expectancy. I have horrible memories of the electronic dashes from the 80s that would burn out, making you a totally clueless driver. Though touch screens are really cool, I like needles and buttons.

so this is just a thought but i think something like this is definitely a possibility because look what Ford has done with th Focus and its sync system. eventually each car maker is going to have to answer to that. It may not work like the concept is being planned but they will eventually have something like this in every car. It looks like thats the look VW is going for too with the controls on the steering wheel just like the focus
Hopefully if they do come out with it, it will be more reliable than the ford's sync system. My room mates dad is a head honcho for ford so she gets a new ford car every year and she got the ford focus with the sync this year. It isnt very reliable. She has had to have it fixed 4 times now and she just got it in August. She HATES it!

i love apple! i have an ipod that matches my car and an IPhone. I love both of them and have never had any issues. However, saying that i am still not sure i would want an apple product in my car. When people have problems with their ipod, it usually is severe (the sad face that they were talking about). For a car that i am hopefully going to have for years, i dont know that i would want an apple product in it because i know a lot of people who have had issues with their products! If it goes bad you usually cant fix it, you have to buy a whole new ipod so i wouldnt want to have the thing go bad in my car and have to replace the whole stereo system.

I love the now look. Not so much for the Space Up! ... It doesn't look sportsy. Which is what I love.
