I love it!

I really hope they will really sell it!
If they will, I'm pretty sure you wont get the diesel version in the US but we will, we already got the Audi TT 2.0 tdi

With my mid-life crisis coming up in a few years, I think this would make an ideal roadster!

I dunno, they are pushing clean diesel in the US. Actually saw a commercial for the MK5 Jetta today while watching football.... I am still surprised we got the Diesel Sportwagon in the US. Being practical has me looking at a Sportwagon, being a home owner with 2 dogs.... would make a good DD for the wife.

But these are all just dreams anyways, I just want a newer built diesel to put some miles on.

If it does happen, that means Vw has a plat form for a rear engined beetle... That also may not happen, but at least the oppertunity is there!

This car also looks very nice! It makes me less depressed that Vw is getting rid of the chrome fronts that are on its current models.

Guys, Checkout this insideline.com video! They make it sound almost production ready!

For those, new to Insideline, click the pictures on the side and a much larger "slideshow" pops up.

Here is one of the pictures they have over there:

TDI - check
Mid-engine - check
RWD - check

Completely impractical for my daily life (ragtops and MN winter don't mix)...but I WANT ONE! VW would be stupid if they didn't bring this here.

I wonder if Top Gear will review it this spring?

Sorry to be a downer, but look at the facts:

VW doesn't think we want a diesel drop top, despite having people begging for convertible TDIs.

Remember the three wheel reverse trike concept? The pubic LOVED that, but VW said no.

Scirocco. I'm still angry about us not getting that.

Microbus concept. Again, HUGE public response, but VW said no.

I'm not really getting my hopes up, despite the fact that I would sell BOTH of my current Volkswagens AND take on payments to get this car.

Nope. No Rocco for us.

And they do sell diesel convertibles in Canada land, just not USA.

The Rocco is coming to the Us, after next september when the MKVI Golf/Rabbit and GTI is released. They're taking their time with it because it would be UBER expensive. It would start at the top end of the GTI's price at $32k. *runs to find article*. Enjoy these nice pictures of the MKVI Golf/Rabbit/GTI

Here it is.

My off the head info was slightly off though. It IS coming to the Us should be it MAY come to the Us after the MKVIs.

I stand corrected on the Rocco. However, my other points are still valid.

I'm still waiting to see what the new US plant brings. I am hoping that maybe brings us some better options with it now being a domestic market product.

For everyone complaining.... I still want a truck, they have those in Mexico (where our damn VW's are built right now).

pretty cool car, not too different than the Golf V but better

I don't know if they call it Rabbit or Golf in the USA

They used to call it a Golf here in the US of A, but changed back to Rabbit with the MKV's. I assume it will still be Rabbit when the MKVI's come out. I don't see how they can really call it a MKVI when it more or less is a facelifted MKV. They look almost entirely the same. But that's another topic

I'm hoping the US plant allows us to have more options with our VWs, within each model (engine, trim level, etc) as well as getting us more models. I would really love this roadster to come to fruition...well, so long as VW is intelligent and doesn't overprice it like they do most everything else (and then wonder why it won't sell...*cough*Routan*cough*)
