Agreed on all points. Shoulda been a Coronet!

Europe has had 4-door GTIs for a loooong time. It's only a trim level.

I'm not impressed or persuaded by what Europe has or doesn't have. Sporty/sports cars are coupes, not 4 door sedans/hatches. They had a "4 door GT" version here long ago, so call it a GT again--it's no GTI. Might as well have a 4 door Beetle and still call it a Beetle? (and yes I am aware there is a dusty prototype in a museum somewhere--obviously they concluded it was a bad idea and didn't make it)

That's fine, Bill. I mean, yeah the car is European and all but what do they know. You do realize that the Golf has always had a 4-door variant, whereas the Beetle has not (aside from the coach-built models for the police) due to the fact the body lines wouldn't work a'tall. Just because you think sporty cars must be coupes doesn't mean it has to be as such. And my Golf GTI, which does have 4-doors incidentally, is just as much a Golf GTI as the 2-door version is, thanks.

So I take it you're also opposed to the entire Audi S line, BMW M group, Mercedes AMG, Jaguar XJR, Cadillac CTS-V, etc? I mean, sporty sedans! For those of use who want such a vehicle, we have that option.

Yep, I want them all eliminated--the extra doors that is!

I LIKE 4-doors. They are very practical. I think this is a very cool sedan. For the record, if I were to buy a GTI, it would definitely be the 4-door version. Coupes are a pain in the ass if you have kids.

I read it in a press release a little while back. Said that with VW taking partial ownership of Porsche that the Panamera and Cayenne were being cut, however, I don't think it was accurate. I thought you could trust everything you read on the internets?

BTW: Where's my bumper sticker? Put on a VW "running hare" emblem (see my avatar)today and an NRA member sticker, just need that one you hatched in that genius mind of yours... If you want a small run of those bumper stickers I can prolly get it done fairly cheaply at the sign shop I used to work at several years ago...let me know. Just need the final version.

Saw the TV ad the other day for the Panamera. The Interior is stunning. I would love to have a four door sports car. I love the M5. And I would take a AMG in a heartbeat. Course I would have to steal it, cause I will never be able to afford it. I gotta admit the first time I saw a 4 door GTI I was like , what the heck is that. But my love for 4 door sports cars will never die.
