My husband sold his sports car so that we could get the Beetle. Ended up we got a great deal and walked away with no payments. that was the only way we could afford to do it. It was a win/win situation. We got a car we both love, it uses reg gas instead of premium, insurance is far less each year, car tabs too are less. Getting in and out of the sports car was getting a bit too much for my achy bones.

My husband picked the music, I'll let him know. I'm like you I like the Salsa Red better. My husband loves the Aquarius Blue. To me, it is more of green tint to it. It was interesting having it next to the Heavenly Blue convertible and how it changed the look of it one.

Ya I only want a NB convertible and living in a place that we get a long winter, I wouldn't want to use it in the winter. I wanted to wait until my car was paid off (3 more years) and then use that car as a winter driver. I couldn't ask for a better car though, I love my Versa. It's great on gas, fully loaded, uses regular gas as well, and is a zippy little small car (but very big inside).

I have just always been a NB fan, and have always wanted a convertible for summer time use. I would not want to get a coupe and there is no way I'm trading in my HK Versa, lol ...

I'll just have to wait and see what's out there in a few years. Hopefully something just as cute is out on the market in a convertible!

I was at our dealer this past week to pick up a new hood for free (woot) , free goodies, and saw the final edition hard top and vert.

My only complaint, is that the color is not consistent on the car. The metal parts of the car are a different color of blue than the plastic parts of the car.

For instance, look at the hood versus the bumper below it. Two different shades of blue. And it wasn't a trick of the light, we looked all around both cars, popped the hoods, compared colors. They just aren't the same colors.

I've seen photos of other Final Edition's and some appear to have this problem while others do not. Unsure if it was a problem at the production plant or what.

Still, nice cars otherwise. And the wheels are pretty slick.

Still looks beautiful ...

I would really prefer a red NB vert ... I have a thing for red cars!

I asked my husband if he had the choice to make instead of one month ago (today)would he pick the color: Salsa Red or Aquarius Blue (if everything else was equal on the car). He said the blue. I would pick the red. However either color would be great if it were coming home with us. LOL

The day we bought our car, we had some specifics:

1. It had to be an automatic (for me)
2. It had to have a sun roof

All the cars the two dealerships had were convertibles. They finally switched with another dealer, had a salesman drive 2 hours roundtrip to bring us our Salsa Red Beetle. We got a great deal on the car, and no regrets. We are seeing mostly convertibles on the lots and even then just a few. We checked numerous dealerships on-line and a couple in person, before deciding that Chapman VW was the one to go with. Our salesman was great too, so that made a huge difference for us in the bartering process.

Any way, we got the car that we wanted. We are thrilled with our purchase. My husband would like to add in the lights in the lower grill (like on the Final Edition), so may do that later on.

I think the red was a great choice!!!!

I love the red on any car, and on a NB it's just beautiful!

When I went in to get my Versa (2 years ago this coming Friday ) ... I told them it had to be red, have a sunroof, CVT transmission, and fog lights. They had to get one from another lot (in Toronto) but it came to me ...

I love how the red just shines up so bright.

We didn't notice the difference in color that you mentioned. But we weren't looking for it too. Just fun to see this model and get the video done. Great to see the cars side by side. Hal liked the wheels too.

I still don't like the way they've done the two-tone. It should come to the top of the door!

I was flipping through old Hot VWs and found the 2004 issues on the last Type 1 (Old) Beetle. It was also blue and white two tone! Must have a think for that color combination...

See I thought the top was white for the convertible, I am SOOO bummed that I missed the auto show last year I still love the 'vert and I wish I could afford a 2nd car because I would totally get one of the final editions or the red rock edition

I love how they brought the fog lights back on the coupe though, I wonder why they didn't put them on the '08 and '09 beetles

Interesting, I went back to this site (auto show)

2010 Volkswagen New Beetle Final Edition at 2009 L.A. Auto Show - KickingTires

and it sure looks like a white convertible top there. I am surprised that it is black instead of the white especially with the white side panel.

I know I'm very late making this comment, but about boring NB colors:

Yes, the boomer factor played a large part, no arguing that. It is the entire reason the "special editions" were anything but. Still, the other thing to consider is that NOBODY made cars in interesting colors for most of the last decade. Everyone had 4-6 shades of black/white/silver and a muted red or muted blue, and that was it. (Heh, except Scion. Though how their apparently 19-year-old target demographic can afford a brand new car in this economy is a great mystery.)

my jealousy factor just went up. i want a final ed. so bad. but i think i would rather have a red rock just because of the lower production numbers of 750 red rocks to 1500 the final ed coupe and 150 convert.

Yeah but they're not numbered like the final editions.
