Default Final Edition New Beetle??? really?

Ok... So I've read the post on here that started in like 2007 or something talking about VW doing away with the NB or at least giving a full redesign. Well today the fam and I were in South Burlington for an appointment and I made Jonathan pull into the VW dealership there to see what's on the lot. Not much for used but there were 3 2010 NB's. Each of which has a RED TAG in the window declaring a Sale on these FINAL EDITION New Beetles. Did I miss something?
Oh and BTW.... on a side note. The most awesome thing I heard today (besides good news at the doc for my 6yo) is my 2 year old pipe up from the back seat very excitedly "BUGGGGGGGGYYYYYY!!!!!!!! O'er dere!!!" Sure enough, there sat a beautiful Plat Grey 1.8T about 100 yards from us. He's catching the Bug! I raise 'em right!

New Beetle Final Edition

They are killing it, at least as far as the Mk4 based NB is concerned. Still no official word from VW if its coming back or not. Lots of speculation and lots of articles giving their opinions on if its coming back/what it will look like. A lot of rumors. But nothing from VW, other than the announcement that the NB was dead after the '10 model year.

Its been on the current chassis for 12 years though. VW has already moved on to the Mk6 platform. The NB is due for a redesign at least.

ahhhhh I see. Well can't argue they're due for something. Did I read correctly that they're only the Aquarious Blue? The VW Dealer here in Rutland has a neat Orange with a black top that I am drooling over. Thanks for the link BTW

The official Final Edition NBs are only Aquarius blue. I think the 'verts are two-toned with white. They might have them labeled as final edition at the dealer, since its the "last year" for the NB, but I don't think there are any other colors for the special Final Edition. And all the FE NBs come with their number out of x that they are, and have final edition badging. I saw one around here a few weeks ago. They look pretty nice.

The orange one you saw is called Red Rock edition, I think it looks really neat...the final editions are labeled and badged and yes the convertible is two-toned with white

There is an official word from VW actually. Vw HAS said that the next beetle has already started production of prototypes. We just haven't seen what it looks like yet and they have now given any specifics. When those prototypes are done, we'll start seeing camo'd versions popping up everywhere.

Oh, and since the mk6 Jetta & the Mk6 Golf/GTI use 2 different platforms now, I'm sure the Beetle will use the one from the Golf since its smaller.

We should hopefully see something from Vw offically on this year's autoshow circut. Maybe Geneva since that is the one with the most Vw Debuts.

Do you have a link? I've yet to read anything officially from VW about it.
